Wellness weekend in the Jeseníky Mountains: sauna, hot tub and Kneipp hydrotherapy

29. 10. 2026

Section: Forest spa, Sauna

A wellness weekend in the Jeseníky Mountains doesn't have to mean a hotel. At MONTANUS Apartments & Cottage in Malá Morávka you get a Finnish sauna included in the price, a private outdoor hot tub (open from 1 April to 30 November, extra charge) and a natural spa inspired by Sebastian Kneipp and Vincenz Priessnitz right in the garden by the stream. All of it just for the guests of our three units, with no queues and no strangers.

Why the Jeseníky Mountains and hydrotherapy

The Jeseníky Mountains have been linked to hydrotherapy since the 19th century. Vincenz Priessnitz (1799–1851) founded cold-water therapy here, and the spa town of Jeseník now stands where he worked. The Bavarian priest Sebastian Kneipp (1821–1897) spread similar methods in the Alpine countries. Our apartments are named after both men, and following their example we built a small hydrotherapy area by the stream, the Natural Spa.

What awaits you

  • Finnish sauna on the ground floor of the apartment house, with a relaxation room, shower and cold-water bucket. Included for guests of the Priessnitz and Kneipp apartments throughout their stay.
  • Private sauna in the cottage as part of the bathroom wellness area, with direct access to the garden.
  • Outdoor hot tub on a larch terrace with a forest view. Book it together with your stay and it is yours for the whole stay, protected by an access code.
  • Natural spa by the stream: Kneipp water treading, arm baths, affusions of the limbs, neck and whole body, the Priessnitz bench and a barefoot massage path.

How to use the natural spa

  1. Warm up first: a short walk or a few minutes of movement.
  2. Water treading: step into the cold water and walk slowly, lifting each foot out of the water with every step. 30–60 seconds is enough.
  3. Arm bath: dip your arms up to the elbows in cold water for 20–30 seconds.
  4. Affusions: pour water gradually from the feet upwards, first legs, then arms and neck.
  5. Just wipe off the water, dry yourself and warm up again by moving or on the sunny terrace.

Kneipp hydrotherapy is traditionally used for cold hardening, supporting blood circulation and overall regeneration. If you have health problems, consult your doctor first.

The perfect weekend plan

  • Friday evening: check-in from 3 pm, dinner, sauna and relaxation room.
  • Saturday: a trip into the mountains (Karlova Studánka 5 minutes by car, Praděd), then the hot tub under the open sky.
  • Sunday morning: natural spa by the stream, coffee on the terrace, check-out by 10 am.

In winter

The hot tub is closed from December to March, but the sauna is open all year and is perfect after skiing on the Kopřivná slope, 400 m from the house. For a change, try the beer spa in Malá Morávka (4 minutes on foot) or the pool complex in Karlova Studánka.
